Calculate the area of any room or space in square feet and square meters. Supports multiple shapes.
Rectangle: Multiply length by width. Area = Length x Width. A room 20 ft by 15 ft = 300 sq ft.
Circle: Use the formula Area = pi x r^2. A circle with a 10 ft radius = 3.14159 x 100 = 314.16 sq ft.
Triangle: Multiply base by height and divide by 2. Area = (Base x Height) / 2.
L-Shape: Break the L into two rectangles, calculate each area, then add them together.
Unit conversions: 1 sq ft = 0.0929 sq m. 1 sq m = 10.764 sq ft. 1 sq ft = 144 sq in.
Once you know your square footage, you can estimate materials. Common coverage rates:
Paint: ~350 sq ft per gallon. Tile: depends on tile size (see our tile calculator). Flooring: typically sold per sq ft with 10% waste factor. Mulch: 1 cubic yard covers ~162 sq ft at 2 inches deep.
